Had some fun this lunchtime!
Being Armed Services Day, there was meant to be a big parade in the City Centre. But it was cancelled about a month ago. So many areas, including mine, have done a smaller one.
So at 1pm, all the cadets and veterans that attended formed up on the shopping area known as the Square. 3 veteran bikers parked in the road to stop the traffic. They should really have got signs from the Council to block the road but those things are too expensive for 15 mins use.
A bloke in a car right behind the bikers went absolutely ballistic. Jumped out of his car, was effing and jeffing about how he had places to go and couldn't wait there for all this nonsense. 'Move out of the way and let me past!' was the general tone of his tirade.
Now... where I live is a solid working class Brummie area and we don't stand for being ordered about. Especially when it's disrupting a charity thing. So he started getting some stick from the onlookers on the pavement. Especially one old lady who was not sparing in her description of this gentleman's manners and appearance.
One of the bikers turned and explained very calmly and politely that it would be about 10 more minutes. At which point the man figuratively exploded. And the p*ss-taking got worse. At this point his passenger leaned over and ordered him back into the car.
When they formed up and marched off, this driver decided he would swerve round the bikes and drive on, even though there were still people in the road. He stalled the car and 3 of us stepped in front of it to stop him driving away. The language out of him! Which wasn't really helped by everyone around him laughing......
When the bikers moved we stepped out of the road to let him go. With about half of us giving him a cheery wave on his way!
I love living here.
